Not Feeling So Haute…

23 Jan

Perhaps it’s the freezing cold weather here in NYC that’s got be feeling blah, but am I wrong to say that nothing really WOW-ed me at Spring’s Haute Couture shows? Obviously, Chanel was gorgeous as always, but nothing caught my eye as lust worthy or more unique than his RTW. It’s haute couture people! Bring on the poofy fabrics and intricate head pieces! Alas, these are my fav looks from the Paris shows…

Louboutin Sees Red!

8 Apr

Christian Louboutin has decided to sue Yves Saint Laurent for stealing their classic red sole bottoms. Louboutin says that the YSL’s red shoes with red soles are identical and will cause confusion to his customers.  However, YSL’s red on red shoe is part of a larger collection where the color of the shoe matches the color of the sole. Apparently Louboutin only noticed the distinction in January, but the YSL red sole shoe have been out much longer. Weird?

What do you think? Does Christian Louboutin have a good case?

Old Navy’s Kardashian Clone!

18 Mar

Melissa Molinaro

Old Navy has released their latest commercial and the video definitely has people watching and talking! The video has gone viral with over 1.7 million views within its first week. The commercial showcases a catchy pop tune called, “Super C-U-T-E,” sung by Melissa Molinaro and her pop group, The Audio Threadz. The video’s popularity probably has something to do with the fact that the star of the commercial (Melissa Molinaro) is a dead ringer for reality star, Kim Kardashian.

Now, the question is, was Old Navy smart enough to use this girl for her famous familiar looks, or did they simply want to showcase a new band? Since everything that Kim Kardashian and her sisters touch these days turns to gold, it is definitely no coincidence that the retailer chose Melissa as the star of their latest commercial. I give Old Navy major props on such a genius advertising move!

Check out the video below and tell me what you think! Can you see the resemblance?

The Better Days of Galliano

12 Mar

Unless you’re completely out of the fashion loop, you probably know all the trouble that John Galliano is for his alleged anti-semitic marks. He is facing charges in France and is now fired as head designer from Christian Dior. Although his actions were disgusting and completely inexcusable, there is no denying Galliano’s talent in the fashion world. He dazzled the runways with his haute couture pieces and well-researched and thought-out collections. Here are some of his best designs from what I like to call, The Better Days of Galliano at Dior.

What do you think of Galliano after all this controversy?
